My Whole Life

I was born to reflect the image of a God who is powerful enough to create my universe, attentive enough to hear my prayers and loving enough to be defined by self-sacrifice. I find my greatest fulfillment on a journey toward purpose and wholeness.

Our Beliefs

Seventh-day Adventist beliefs are meant to permeate your whole life. Growing out of scriptures that paint a compelling portrait of God, you are invited to explore, experience and know the One who desires to make us whole.

HIGHER CALLING

ABOUT THE CD
As Christians we look for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ to this earth. Yet in His mercy Jesus tarries … ‘not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance’.  So while we wait for Christ to return, we go forward with joy and hope, even amidst our daily struggles and trials, eager to share the good news of His love and salvation.  The music on this CD is but a small reflection of that experience until that glorious day when it shall be said, ‘Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him and He will save us; this is the Lord; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation’ (Isaiah 25:9).

ABOUT HIGHER CALLING & KINGDOM ASSIGNMENTS
Higher Calling is a group of committed Christians that have a passion for spreading the good news of Jesus Christ via song and acoustic music.  Higher Calling covers a fairly wide range of styles which include bluegrass, contemporary acoustic music, hymns and praise songs.  All songs are originally arranged around acoustic instruments – banjo, guitar, mandolin, bass and fiddle.  Even though one might be tempted to call the group a bluegrass band, Higher Calling goes well beyond what most people think of as the typical bluegrass style.

In the fall of 2009, Pastor Phil White asked for volunteers to participate in a unique evangelistic outreach mission referred to as ‘kingdom assignments’ where individuals were invited to share Jesus in the community.  The idea was to give church members $100 as seed money to engage in activities that would grow the kingdom of God. Jonathan Wurl (guitar and mandolin) was inspired to accept a $100 bill and within a short time, the decision was made to produce a professional quality CD and donate all the profits to the local comfort ministry for children called ‘Bags of Love’.

ABOUT BAGS OF LOVE
Our local, independent Bags of Love ministry is one of scores that have sprung up all over the U.S. in response to a growing awareness of the needs of fragile children in our communities.  Children entering the foster care system are especially vulnerable and fearful when taken from all that is familiar to them.  Our ministry provides the local Children's Services Agency with large, brightly colored duffle bags for distribution to each new foster child, from newborns through age 17.  We fill each bag with a homemade quilt or fleece blanket, a stuffed animal, personal care items and toys tailored to the age/gender of the child. We also include a letter of encouragement, letting the child know they are thought of and wished well.

It is our mission and prayer that these bags and their contents will provide a measure of comfort and communicate to the child that that they are loved and valued.  Foster parents and case workers report that these bags help children transition into their new living situation with less apprehension. The children not only express genuine surprise when they are handed their bag, but for some it may even be the first time they have ever had any thing that nice.  One boy was delighted to find he would have his first ever "very own toothbrush"!  This ministry relies on support and donations from local church and community members.  For more information, you can contact our local Bags of Love leader, Sandi Bakland at nwgbagsoflove@hotmail.com
